Summary of expert reviews

The Always Pan by Our Place aims to be the all-in-one aesthetically pleasing solution to your stove top needs. While the versatility and design were commended frequently by the expert reviewers, there were some drawbacks that were stated at a similar frequency.

Bryan Kim of The Infatuation writes, “the real draw of the Always Pan is the promise of its versatility, and you’re going to get the most bang for your buck out of this thing if you’re currently in dire need of multiple pots and pans.” This is one of the main pitches Our Place makes about the pan, in addition, “One thing we do love: aesthetics. It’s incredibly beautiful and the color range is stunning,” notes the Minimalist Baker.

The two main issues that tipped the recommendations for several of those included was, to put it simply, “The main drawback of the Always Pan is that it is not oven-safe.” states Patty Catalano of TheKitchn. Additionally Joe Ray of Wired magazine notes “The exterior of the Always Pan has a fashionable, vaguely nubbly painted surface, and when it cooled down, I found a couple spots where the paint wore away and left little shiny points of metal poking through, which scratched my stove.” The lack of oven-safeness limits the versatility aspect and the paint chipping, while typically happening after a reasonable length of time, was mentioned more often than not.

Overall, out of 8 experts there was a breakeven split, those that were most positive could overlook the downsides of the wear and tear, but the versatility and design just were not enough for some.

“Though our testing has yet to conclude, we aren’t likely to recommend these beautiful pans. But the heart wants what it wants, and if yours is begging for cookware that will complement your decor, we won’t stop you.”

“I think it’d make a great gift for someone new to living on their own (a college grad, perhaps), but it’s not a must-have investment for someone who loves to cook, and cooks a lot.”

“If you’re looking for a simple, nonstick pan that can make omelettes and stir fry, as well as cook steamed foods and one-pot pasta, then the Always Pan might be for you.”

“Yes, the design is very stylish, but for the money you should really just buy an All-Clad.”

Wired | Joe Ray | No | Full review

“At first, yes (whole heartedly). But after 6 months, no. It’s just not justifiable due to the high price tag. And ultimately, if it’s advertised as a non-stick pan, it should remain nonstick!”

“This is a beautiful and well-designed pan, but it won’t replace every pot in your cabinet.”

TheKitchn | Patty Catalano | Yes | Full review

“I’ve used the Always Pan almost every day for over a year and it still looks like new. However, realistically it doesn’t replace all other pans (unless you’re really into one-pot meals).”
