Summary of expert reviews

There are an uncountable number of meal kit services out there, but most have their own specialties. Factor aims to be the higher volume, lower carb choice for those looking for convenient healthy options.

If you’re looking for hearty foods, David Watsky of Cnet cuts to the chase, “You won’t find any splurge meals with mashed potatoes or pasta, but rather lots of lean proteins like chicken and salmon along with greens, cauliflower, grains, beans and other high-protein, low-calorie foods.” Instead he notes, “Factor emphasizes healthy, high-protein meals that would fit into any number of low-carb or low-calorie diets, perfect for athletes in training, the fitness-minded or folks like me who are simply trying to eat less pasta.”

A differentiating factor in regards to healthiness is that “Registered dietitians design the pre-prepared meals on offer from Factor 75. Chefs cook the meal before its delivery to the customer, who then only needs to reheat it.” says Katherine Marengo of Medical News Today. Additionally, Alison Chew of Mealfinds notes, “All of the Factor meals are made with high-quality, fresh ingredients and free of gluten, soy, hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, and preservatives. In addition, all meats are pasture-raised and grass-fed and some of their produce is organic.”

The price of Factor drops quite significantly as you increase your volume commitment, “For those ordering meals in high volume looking for natural options, then I think Factor 75 does a good job at filling these demands,” states Jake Boly of Barbend, making it one of the more competitive per meal prices, albeit the introduction price for small orders was typically noted as on the higher end.

There weren’t too many downsides other than some of the meals having inconsistent texture or the looks of them in the packaging not being as photogenic as the pictures. “Factor_’s meals appearance are average. The meals were always appetizing, so the appearance was never connected to a food’s taste, but how it looked in the package,” stated Jake Boly of Barbend.

Overall Factor was recommended for those looking for a convenient, low-carb, healthy meal-kit but willing to commit to a decent volume in order to keep the price down.

“If you’re too busy working from home or hopping on your exercise bike to fuss over dinner, Factor’s pre-made meals could be right for you. It’s one of the few pre-made meal delivery services we’ve tested that focuses on low-calorie and low-carb meals, and the only one we’ve seen with registered dietitians on board.”
